Beating MS via 'The Research Project': A Journey t
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sean and I'm fundraising for one of my best friends, Mary Rose.
If you know Mary Rose's journey with Multiple Sclerosis, you know she started reading scientific journals when diagnosed 12 years ago. She then became her own decade-long science experiment - which she lovingly coined, "The Research Project."
She self-advocated for new science, ceased disease modification drugs 5 years ago at a risk, bucked suggested chemo-based treatments and prayed to access - in her lifetime - a cure centered on remyelination: the process where myelin sheaths regrow over the damaged nerves that cause MS disability.
So, Mary Rose was shocked and all up in her feelings when the University of California, San Fransisco accepted her into their remyelination clinical trial this week. Early studies show it's the cure.
Mary Rose is one of 74 people picked for the non-chemo, high-dosage, Clemastine-based remyelination clinic trial. By participating in the trial at a risk, she may slow her disease and help future generations defeat it.
The Phase 1 clinical trial starts mid-April and lasts 9 months. Mary Rose won't be able to work due to side effects, like constant sleep (our very own Sleeping Beauty!). She'll incur costs for stays and regular travel to and from San Fransisco for tests.
The GoFund Me will cover some of Mary Rose's costs. Anything raised above that she'd like to donate to UCSF, so researchers can cure MS and get FDA approval. So we set a big goal: $100k!
I kindly ask for your support and love for Mary Rose at this time and for UCSF researchers. This is your chance to be a big part of the cure for Multiple Sclerosis!
Name of clinical trial:
Assessing Changes in Multi-parametric MRI in MS Patients Taking Clemastine Fumarate as a Myelin Repair Therapy
Much love
