Support Robert, Beáta, and Little Rebecca During a Medical Crisis
My name is Georgie, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend Robert, his partner Beáta, and their 5-year-old daughter Rebecca, who live an ordinary life in Austin, Texas—until everything changed overnight.
July 29, 2025 — The First Signs
Robert and Beáta were rushed to the ER with symptoms resembling a stroke: numbness on his left side, slurred speech, difficulty walking, facial drooping, and coordination problems while driving. Given his family history (both parents passed away due to stroke), the situation was taken seriously. He also mentioned having persistent headaches and numbness in his left hand over the past two weeks. Doctors immediately began diagnostic tests—physical exams, lab work, MRI, CT, and X-rays.
A Shocking Discovery
The results came quickly—and they were devastating. Doctors found two tumors in Robert’s brain. He was urgently transferred to the University of Texas (DSMC), where a full neurosurgical team took over his care. Their goal: determine the tumor type and begin treatment as soon as possible. On July 29, he was officially diagnosed with two brain tumors. Just one day later, on July 30, Robert and Beáta received another blow: X-rays showed a suspicious mass in his lungs as well.
Surgery & Discharge
On August 1st, Robert underwent brain surgery. The procedure went well, and he was discharged two days later. His discharge report listed: Metastatic cancer, brain mass, pulmonary lesion, hypertension, and parotid mass. Biopsy results are still pending, but based on medical experience, doctors now suspect stage 4 lung cancer with brain metastasis.
The Family’s Reality
This heartbreaking diagnosis has left the family without stable income or support. Little Rebecca does not know what is going on. She just saw that her Daddy was at the hospital. She cried a lot through those days. Robert cannot work or drive for weeks—maybe months. Beáta is doing everything she can, but it is not enough. Robert’s loving partner is trying to hold everything together while also caring for Robert and their young daughter. She doesn't have a driver’s license and works as an apartment/house cleaner. Using Uber to reach jobs means she loses up to 80% of her earnings on transportation alone. She is barely able to work now. To make matters harder, they have no friends or relatives nearby to help with transportation, grocery shopping, or childcare. Even taking Rebecca to and from school is a challenge—public transport takes more than an hour each way and isn't a viable option.
Since then
Two weeks after leaving the hospital, Robert and his family received the results of the biopsy: metastatic melanoma. The staples holding the surgical wound together were removed on August 14. However, the wound was leaking a lot, so they went back to the neurosurgeon a few days later. The wound was open, so they were immediately taken to the emergency room, where he was given local anesthesia, then stitched back together and closed. On August 20, at the oncology consultation, the treating oncologist explained the selected treatment plan in more detail: immunotherapy and radiation therapy. The family remains positive, but their financial situation is not improving. For Robert, both mental and physical recovery is key. However, he is very worried about expenses, bills, rent, and treatment costs. Beáta works as much as she can, but in addition to taking care of Róbert and their daughter Rebecca. Róbert also has a lot of medical so Beáta's time spent working is simply not enough to provide the amount of money to cover basic living needs.
The family would like to thank all donors so far for their best wishes and financial support. They can not put into words how thankful they are. They ask that you continue to share this donation link so that it reaches as many people as possible.
