Help Kurt fulfil a dream before MND takes hold

Hello friends and supporters of the big-hearted and generous Kurt Sampson,

My name is Siobhan and together with friends, we are raising funds for Kurt and his family who have recently had their world rocked by Kurt's diagnosis of motor neurone, a rare and insidious disease. With an average life expectancy of 2 - 3 years after diagnosis, their dreams for the next stage of life have been shattered.

Together though, we can make one dream come true - Kurt has always wanted to take the family back to New Zealand for an extended holiday and even try and tackle the South Island by bicycle!

Kurt, through his generous hospitality and amazing culinary skills, has created so many memorable experiences for us all, from his career beginning at Franco's One on the Side in Auckland to Greg Malouf's O'Connell's and Momo in Melbourne to Pata Negra and Propeller in Perth, and myriad places in between. Unfortunately, MND will also rob Kurt of his career and future ability to support his wonderful family. Kurt has already lost a lot of strength and dexterity in his left arm making some day-to-day tasks difficult and cooking near on impossible.

So let's send this selfless (he would be embarrassed about this campaign), private and proud family guy and his wife Evette and three teenagers Amelie, Oscar and Harvey on a 2 month adventure of a lifetime before MND takes hold. We believe he truly deserves this trip to share his love of NZ with his kids as well as allow him to say goodbye to his frail Mum. Without your kind contribution, this dream trip won't happen.

Any funds raised beyond the costs of flights and accommodation will go towards future medical and caring costs. We are also holding the Big Night Out for Kurt on 10th June 2023 with funds raised for both the family and the MND Association of WA which provide a vital role in the care and support of those diagnosed with MND and their families.
