Beat Cancer with Bagel
Donation protected
Most of you know Jeff "Bagel" Brennan from his hometown of Wilmington, MA! Some of us grew up with him at Lake Shore Park or Austin Prep. Most of Jeff's friends played Wilmington Youth Hockey (street hockey, deck hockey) or watched Bruins hockey with him. This is not including Patriots games, concerts, parties and golf. And more parties!
Jeff is friends with everyone and brings laughter and fun wherever he goes. Jeff also brings amazing strength and spirit to his recent cancer diagnosis.
Last October Jeff was hospitalized for lower abdomen pain and subsequently diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer. Jeff was transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston where he met a top-notch team of doctors who would then map out his treatment plan. He soon began what his oncologist refers to as "Chapter One" which was immediate colostomy surgery, followed by 6 weeks of mild chemo and daily radiation. After a short break in December, Jeff is now undergoing "Chapter Two" which consists of four months of heavier chemotherapy. His last treatment is scheduled for May 8th!
Throughout his treatments, Jeff has done exceptionally well managing side effects and continuing care for his son AJ. As you can imagine, caring for an (almost) 11-year-old boy takes lots of energy and time. He has remained in great spirits despite the constant setbacks cancer has caused him.
Jeff has two surgeries that will take place this summer and unfortunately, he will not be able to return to work anytime soon. He was fortunate to have a short-term disability plan that carried him through February, however, all financial resources have been exhausted at this point.
I have known Jeff for 30+ years and we have been partners for quite a few years now. I am dedicated to supporting Jeff throughout his recovery and I would like to make Jeff's "Chapter Three" as enjoyable and stress-free as possible as he continues to fight this terrible disease.
All donations will be used exclusively for medical and living expenses so he can continue to provide a dignified life for himself and his son.
Thank you in advance! I will certainly post updates on Jeff's condition and prognosis throughout the next few months. Please keep in touch - we are always welcoming prayers, well-wishes, calls, texts and hopefully visitors this summer.
