If you've met my dog, you know how wonderful he is. Beasley, my perfect golden retriever, has brought so much joy to my life over the past 8 years. I met Beasley while looking for a service dog candidate when I was in my sophomore year of college in 2017, one of the hardest years of my life. I had met about a dozen other dogs and had some assessed by a service dog trainer, and none were meeting the bill. Until we met Beasley. I knew instantly that he was the dog for me: calm, loving, beautiful, and oh so sweet.
Beasley has been truly life-changing for my mental health over the past 8 years. And in February of 2026, he was diagnosed with cancer. He had two lumps, one that had been growing for a while but we thought was benign, that required two separate surgeries. These surgeries were two weeks apart in February and March of 2026 and cost a total of $5050.49.
As a PhD student living in Boston on a stipend below the living wage, this has been extremely challenging to manage, and I am still paying off this vet bill. Absolutely any help is so appreciated.
Yesterday, Beasley had his first "zoomies" that's been allowed since recovering from his surgeries, and it made me so happy to see him still his happy-go-lucky, loving, joyful self. I’m so grateful he’s still here.
If you’re able to contribute at all, it would truly help me continue giving Beasley the care he deserves after everything he’s given me. Even sharing this page means so much.
