A few days ago on (4/29), we woke up to our 7 year old dog, Bear, shaking and unable to put any weight on his back legs.

We rushed Bear to the vet, where he was quickly transferred to a specialist. He was diagnosed with a slipped disc that caused sudden paralysis and required immediate surgery. Thankfully, we were able to get him into surgery within 24 hours, giving him the best possible chance at recovery.

Bear is now recovering, and we are doing everything we can to support him through this journey. He is the sweetest boy, and his bond with his best friend, Honeybun, our corgi is incredibly special. Seeing him unable to run and play the way he loves has been heartbreaking, but we are holding onto hope as he continues to show positive signs.

Even with pet insurance and our savings, the cost of Bear’s emergency surgery and ongoing care has quickly become overwhelming, especially as we’ve recently relocated from Arizona to the Bay Area and are still getting back on our feet.

There is a chance Bear may never fully regain the use of his back legs, but we remain hopeful and committed to giving him the best quality of life possible, no matter what that looks like.
