I am 43 year old with stage 4 melanoma cancer in brain, necks, and stomach.
I have cancer and at the palliative stage. I wanted to do something awesome off my bucket list which was to abseil with a group and raise funds for an important group which had been a good send.
I hope to raise as much As I can, with the army of my 30 bear DeafCancerWarriors who abseiling down.
I have a fear of height and scared to death but gonna do and upset my mother who doesn’t want me to do it and think I am completely MAD!! Lol.
Wish me luck.

Hi I am Tony, 32, I am the fiancé of Matt aka Bear.
We been together a long while. This is a sad last past of the journey we both are on and wanted to go out with a bang.
Matt had alway been a fighter and a warrior taking everything into his stride and Rosen the best he could.
Everyone of you that volunteered to abseil have given Matt more life, a reason to want to fight and carry on.
He so dedicated to taking his tablets all of them and keeping it down just to do the bloody abseil and prove a point of No , I can do it:
I am So proud of the community gathering around to support Matt and complete one of his special wishes.
Please donate for me and encourage me to stand by my fiancé and lead the team down the tower.
Krista Norris
Hi I’m Krista or K* is my sign name. I’m a busy Mummy and a Sign Language Interpreter based in Northamptonshire. One of my professional passions is performance interpreting often known for bursting into signed songs! I work in various community settings interpreting appointments.
I’m joining in the 418ft abseil down the Northampton lift tower to raise funds and face a personal challenge! Heights are not my thing but on the 23rd October 2021 they will have to be! I’ll either be the slowest moving abseiler or the quickest!
I have known my Deaf friend Matt aka Bear for over 15 years. One of my favourite events with Matt has to be the deaf karaoke he used to run, plenty of giggles and fun, singing and interpreting ‘I’m a barbie girl’ is a personal highlight!
Cheryl Brown
Hi I’m Cheryl,
I completed my British Sign language level 2 course a few years ago, I work as a communicator in an educational setting.
I have wanted to abseil the Northampton lift tower for ages. I knew I wanted to complete it with a team and this felt like the right cause to do it for!
As I'm moving soon it's kind of like a goodbye to Northampton too. As well as overcoming my fear of heights! I like to put myself well and truly out of my comfort zone every now and then, so this should be fun!

Matt has stage 4 cancer, managing on medication but cancer sucks! He’s a warrior arranging to raise awareness of this charity. A real need for deaf people diagnosed with cancer.
Imagine a hearing person, at a hospital appointment being told they have terminal cancer. Hearing people can go home and call cancer helplines with any worries or questions. For deaf people this is not an option.
The support group called the ‘Deaf Cancer Support Group UK’ which is a project being supported by Self Help UK and Macmillan in partnership. They offer text support and online video chats.
Matt says “It had been a LIFELINE to me due to the fact that I have often felt low due to knowing that I am TERMINALLY ILL and the group had fully supported me, giving me words of wisdom in a silent world, along with laughters and tears united as a Warrior Group.”
If you can spare some pounds to support our team of 30 abseilers we hope to raise enough funds to support deaf community members through their personal journey of cancer.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you want to find out more please visit the Matts main fundraising at go fund me page or the Facebook page.
