PATRON, SPACE FOR THE WILD

We urgently need your help to rescue some moon bears and give them a life worth living.

A couple of weeks ago, I met a family of moon bears living behind bars in one of the last remaining bear bile farms in South Korea. It was heartbreaking to witness their dreadful existence - and hard to leave them there.

I promised we’d be back to help. If I was one of these poor bears, I would want someone to give me a shot at happiness.

Here’s their story …

Life in tiny, filthy metal cages is all these bears have ever known. They’ve spent their entire lives being exploited as part of the bear bile industry, where their bile is painfully extracted for use in traditional medicine.

Although now banned in South Korea, these bears are amongst 200 bears who are close to freedom - yet remain trapped in these cages with nowhere to go.

With local sanctuaries already full, these bears are in risk of either being put to sleep or shipped to farms in other countries where their suffering will continue.

We can’t let this happen.

This is why we need your help now. We are their last chance.

Space for the Wild has launched a rescue mission – Bears Behind Bars – to give these bears a second chance at life.

With your help, we can bring them to a safe, forever home at Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park, where they will be able to feel the grass under their feet, breathe fresh air and simply be bears for the first time in their lives.

Watching our beautiful rescued brown bear Diego this morning playing in his reserve in the spring sunshine – thanks to the generosity of many many people – has made me even more determined to give these bears the happiness they deserve.
