Beard-Young Cemetery Cleanup

Donation protected
Greetings, my name is Tony Matthews a retired United States Navy Veteran and resident of Grovetown GA. I have found it my heart to revive a rundown and not maintained African-American cemetery here in Grovetown, GA. located on Bakers Place Rd across from the Kalarie subdivision. I have driven past this cemetery for years and noticed it has not been properly maintained and would like your help to revive the history of this cemetery with continued maintenance.

I have traced it to learn that most of the family is part of the Beard-Young family, it's an African-American family, research has revealed what they believe to be the cemetery's oldest occupant, Dora Ward Dority, born 1851 and died 1958.

WWII soldier Wilbon Beard, who is also buried in the plot was born April 29, 1915 and died June 17, 1952. The tombstone notates Beard as Georgia PFC 4057 QM Service CO World War II.

The initial cleaning will start November 25th and continue monthly until we can simply maintain the appearance.

I am grateful for any contribution you can make. I covet your prayers. Please share this to help me get the word out.
