Bear Nichols' Memorial Fund
Cardboard Playhouse and myself (Kristin Berg) are deeply saddened and shocked to share the news that we have lost a dear company member. Bear Nichols passed away from a plane crash Thursday July 1st, 2021 while visiting family in Omaha. Bear’s time with Cardboard Playhouse was just a few years but he made a huge impact on all of us and his fellow company members. We do not have enough words to properly express just how much he will be missed.
After speaking with Bear's mother Megan, Doug and I felt that a gofundme to help with transportation and memorial costs would be beneficial to the family. All money raised with be given to Megan Bull, Bear's mother.
Bear is survived by his mother Megan Bull, father Ted Nichols, his step-parents Julie Nichols and Garret Bull, his half sister Daisy, and step-brothers Logan, Nathan and Ian.
Bear was a very bright light to our theatre community. He was a talented and gifted actor and was always a joy to work with. We were honored to cast Bear in several memorable roles which included Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls Jr., Peter Pan in Disney’s Peter Pan Jr., The Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr., Herbert in Junie B. Jones Jr., part of the Cheshire Cat in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr., Prince Dahdu Rahn-Rahn in Disney’s Aladdin Dual Language Edition, and had been cast as Grandpa Joe for our youth directed production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr which had been postponed in 2020. Doug, Kristin, Madi and Danae were also fortunate to work with him on a production of Matilda for MTS and in a few comedy camps at The Box Performance Space and Improv Theatre.
We were very lucky to get to see Bear recently at our production of Elephant and Piggie’s We Are in a Play as an invited audience member. The cast was so happy to see him since his move to Phoenix last year, that they asked him to be in a cast photo.
