Bear Hugs for Darren & Jed

Darren and Jed need your help. As you may already know, Darren was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma of the stomach. That's a very technical way to say that he has stomach cancer that has spread to other parts of his body and, it breaks our hearts to say it, his prognosis is not good. There are no treatment options that will eliminate the cancer so the current focus is his comfort and giving Darren and Jed some extra time together.
Darren and Jed have been in love for over 25 years. They met through mutual friends (*wink wink*) and have been inseparable ever since. They have spent their years together deepening their bond through their mutual love of nerderie, food, and their close-knit relationships in the Bear Community. They were married in the winter of 2015, surrounded by their friends, family, and chosen family.
Shortly after receiving Darren's diagnosis, Jed found himself unemployed after Coronavirus-related downsizing at the non-profit where he worked. Even with insurance, their situation is still incredibly expensive. While Darren and Jed are doing their best to prepare during this unimaginably trying time, a time will come where the financial burden will be more than they can bear.
Our goal for this benefit is to raise money to aid Darren and Jed through Darren's palliative and hospice care and to hopefully have enough to help Jed to start over when that time comes.
