Beam Camp City: Make it thrive and keep it free!
Tax deductible
On July 10th, Beam Center will open its first summer camp on Governors' Island. As it's done for 15 years in the woods of New Hampshire and the schools and communities of NYC, Beam Center collaborated with an artist to conceive a large-scale installation that hundreds of kids will build together. Along the way, they'll discover the joy of contributing to something larger than themselves. Since May 8, Beam Teens and staff have been renovating two of the island's historic buildings and building out camp facilities to offer an incredible experience to hundreds of New York kids. Now, we need your help to make sure we have the supplies and staff we need to welcome them in Beam style--and most importantly, to keep Beam Camp free for those who need it most.

Format
During the week, the camp will invite Community-Based Organizations to supplement their program, at no additional cost to young people, with a week of camp games and building a large-scale art installation at six sites across the island.
During the weekend, the camp will be opened to the general public so that all young people can be part of this community event, for free.
This year, they'll come together to build Constellation by Ye Qin Zhu.

Impact
100+ Beam Teens will be employed as counselors.
1,000+ kids will be able to benefit from a camp experience.
Beam's large-scale installations push young people to reach higher towards an aspiring community goal, give them access to tools and skills normally reserved for adults, create opportunities for mentorship with Beam Teens and staff and open up the door to outlets at Beam or in the wider community.
To keep it free for youth who need it most, please donate today and be part of building Beam Center's biggest, most ambitious project yet.

Beam Center's Mission
Beam Center brings together youth, artists, engineers, and educators to produce ambitious, collaborative projects that support youth to take bold steps towards meaningful futures and foster conditions for educational equity.
