This free weeklong program for students entering grade 9-12 in the Beacon community was born from our city's effort to enhance police and community relations. This youth academy is presented with the support of our local Beacon Police Department and PBA. The goal of the program is to help participating youth understand the roles and responsibilities of police officers in our community, job duties performed and requirements of becoming a police officer. Students go on field trips to a court, correctional facility, training center, police academy, police station and more. They will also be trained in first aid and CPR.
The costs for this program include: busing for our trips, classroom materials, food, certification fees for first aid/CPR and much more.
