Help Beacon become a professional photographer.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Clint Beedy, although most of you know me as Beacon, The Poi Mechanic.
For those who know me well, you know that I’ve always had a hard time asking for help and a harder time receiving it, but I want to get past that today because I could use your help.
So, today, I started this GoFundMe campaign.
Ever since I was a kid I’ve had the dream of being a professional photographer, but I’ve never been able to afford the equipment to do so.
If I’ve inspired you over the years with my videos and you want to help me inspire others with my biggest passion which is photography; then I’m asking you to consider donating to me. It doesn’t matter the amount, even a dollar will help.
So, a little bit about myself.
I am a flow artist and I’ve been spinning poi for 19 years now. For many years I’ve been teaching people, online, how to build and fix their poi so they can be better equipped to find their flow. That’s how I got the name The Poi Mechanic.
What most of you probably don’t know is that I’m an actual mechanic too.
I've been doing this work way-too-long and after all these years it has taken a toll on my health. It’s exacerbated old injuries and created new ones, plus all of the automotive chemicals have caused me issues too; my body just isn’t able to continue doing this for a living. I’m in my 40s and I want to get out from underneath vehicles and follow my dreams.
Part of my dream has always been to be in nature as much as possible. Years ago, I started recording myself spinning poi in the most beautiful places I could find.
Some spots take hours of hiking to get to and all along the way there are so many amazing things I come across and especially in Arizona where I find a lot of Native American Ruins.
All of these things have a story to tell and I want to capture that on camera and share it with those who can’t experience it themselves.
I want to capture all the things that inspire me, landscapes, wildlife, portraits, weddings, flow artists in their flow state, macro and night sky photography as well. Each type of photography requires different equipment, especially, since I’ll be doing video too. That’s why the price is beyond what I can afford.
As a kid, I started out with a film camera that I bought at a pawn shop and I used it for years. Since then, I’ve just used a cell phone. Unfortunately, that camera lacks the ability to truly capture things the way I see them. What I need is a proper high definition mirrorless camera with specialty lenses along with some other gear.
After getting the equipment I need, my long-term plan is to get a small RV to travel all over the country and document the things I see so I can share them with you.
So, if you feel like donating, just know that your support will help my dreams become a reality. If you feel like donating something other than cash, please just contact me directly.
Flow On Fire, my flow arts sponsor, has been kind enough to offer a 20% discount on non-LED orders for anyone who donates over $10, so a big thanks to them.
To everyone who has supported me over the years by liking and sharing my videos, thank you. I wouldn’t be where I am today as an artist without you.
Thanks so much for your time and I will see you in the future.
Please message Flow on Fire on IG @maine_flowonfire, Etsy or email at: [email redacted] to setup your 20% off order. Your name will need to match the donation list. If you donated anonymously contact me and I'll send them your name
