Hi! My name is Bea, I'm 20 and a student studying Film and TV production, hoping to get into astrophysics afterwards.
I am fundraising to get Pectus Excavatum surgery. Pectus Excavatum is a condition in which a person's sternum is sunken into their chest, often compressing their heart and/or their lungs. Currently, it is affecting my heart and lung function, making it difficult for me to breathe normally and walk long distances without often fainting, and gives me tachycardia which has caused me to become severely ill. Not only has this condition affected me physically, but mentally also, as it has impacted my quality of life hugely.
Because my condition is recognised as being 'cosmetic' by the NHS, they do not fund it, so I have been refused the surgery because of that. Therefore, I have no other option but to get the surgery privately.
From having this surgery, I will be able to take my first deep breath. As well as that, I will have a bigger appetite, more energy and a stronger quality of life. It would truly be lifesaving. I hate asking for help and apologise for this, but anything will help. By reposting, sharing and/or donating, you will be saving a life that is too short to go.
