Dear Friends & Family:
I’ve run into some unexpected medical challenges including a shoulder surgery that’s put me into financial hardship. From groceries and dog food to past due bills, rent, and medical supplies—I’m stuck. I’m grateful and in good spirits but need your help to get over the hump. Without your support and financial assistance, I’m not going to make it to the end of August when my regular teaching income starts back up.
Last Wednesday, I underwent major shoulder surgery including a bicep tenodesis. I have several restrictions that include driving, no bending at the elbow, or carrying small objects. My bicep tendon was cut, then reattached, and it has to stay immobilized except during physical therapy. My rotator cuff was also stabilized. I am in the early, painful stages of healing, and just managing daily tasks—like feeding myself and Jake—is overwhelming.
I’m currently staying, through September, at the Illinois Medical District or IMD Guest House at a reduced rate. I’m humbled by the kindness that’s come my way, and I want you to know I’ll keep you updated through this journey.
With intensive physical therapy and proper nutrition, I’ll be able to return to teaching music full-time at Moos Elementary in Chicago.
Whatever you can give—whether it’s $5, a share, or a kind message—would mean more than I can say.
Thank you for helping me through this unexpected chapter.
With love and deep gratitude,
Jessica
