Be There for Holly: Surgery and Healing

Don protégé
I have been battling extremely high blood pressure, severe headaches, and vomiting for almost 2 years. After many medicine changes and no help, I finally got an answer in early February. I have a rare tumor called a Pheochromocytoma. I met with an endocrine oncology surgeon specialist at MUSC in late February and will have surgery to remove the tumor in March.

The tests (labs, CT scans, and doctor appointments) have added up substantially. I have insurance, but the cost and time off work to come (unfortunately without enough PTO to cover) is a strain financially. All I want is to be "normal" again for myself and my kids... and my job as a nurse. I appreciate any help during this time and will use it to pay toward my surgery and the bills already piling up from all of my testing. After this is over I plan to help advocate for others who may have the same symptoms and have questions unanswered. The symptoms of this tumor can lead to a stroke if not treated. For an otherwise healthy 40 year old, it was hard for many doctors to take my symptoms seriously. Thankfully a cardiologist listened to me and helped get the appropriate tests done so that there was no delay in care. Here's to being back to the old Holly soon and that the tumor is benign. ❤️
