Be There for Charles and Mary

My name is Mary Patton-Jobson from Brookfield, MO, and I am the girlfriend of Charles Douglas, Jr. of Macon, MO. Charles has been battling a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, or HCM for short. It has caused him to be hospitalized several times. He is currently in the cardiac ICU at the University Hospital. We have been here since the 17th of this month, and spent 5 days here at the end of April. Charles has recently gotten approved for disability since he has not been able to work since July of 2024, but unplanned hospital stays multiple times have made things very, very tight financially. By my own choice, I have stayed with him during these hospital stays because I am a worrier and don’t feel anyone should be left alone sick. Charles has a long road ahead of him as he tries to get his condition under control. He also has other medical issues that do not help his condition. He is not asking for this by any means; it is myself who is asking for help to help ease some of the financial burden. Fortunately, he has Medicaid, but that doesn’t stop the expense of gas, food, and the other bills that pile up when we are at the hospital instead of myself being at work. I really do not know what to say in something like this because I have never been one to ask for help, but lately, I am being shown that I need to swallow my pride and allow others to help. I have always been the type of person to give a person my last dime or open my home to whoever needed it. I never thought I would be in this position that I felt the need to make this post. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you could keep him in your prayers, we would appreciate it.
