On April 13, the world lost Andrew Reid at the age of only 43. Those of us who had the privilege of doing theater with him, dancing with him, working with him or just hanging out with him no doubt feel this loss deeply. He will be sorely missed.

I spoke with Laura – his wife and partner in life for nearly 20 years – about what we could do to support her and the girls. What’s most important to her is that we all keep Andrew’s memory alive, and help their daughters (Katie, 5, and LeeLee, 2) make some happy memories during this difficult time.

When I asked her about doing a GoFundMe, she was pretty resistant, saying that she didn’t want to be a burden on anyone; that only made me push harder (sorry not sorry Laura). She said that what she wanted most of all was for her girls never to want for anything, and to have them be able to follow their dreams – whether that’s college, travel or having a small nest egg as they begin the next chapter of their lives as adults.
