We are all affected in one way or another by the COVID-19 response. Small businesses are especially hard hit, as most already operate on thin margins. One small business in Tucson that I know always does the right thing by the community, and could use a little help right now, is Fantasy Comics.
Matt (the owner of Fantasy Comics) was already facing a challenging time for his business and livelihood. To add to that stress, the primary supplier of comic books nationwide has halted delivery of all new material for an unknown amount of time as part of their COVID-19 response plan. That means his business will not be generating revenue for bills that don't disappear just because there is no new inventory, such as loans, utilities, taxes, etc. This doesn't even take into account the personal bills and living expenses that are dependent on income received from the shop.
Matt, and Fantasy Comics, gives back consistently to the community. He does food drives for the food bank. He sponsors fundraisers for animal shelters and other causes. He donates comics and books to schools, hospitals and other youth groups. He's done countless other small informal good deeds. It's time we, as the Tucson community, help out a business that always strives to do right. It's time we step up and be the hero Fantasy Comics needs.
