Be the Church! Urgent but Hopeful Ask to Overcome Hardship!

Hi, my name is Marisa—and I’m reaching out not just with urgency, but with hope.

I’ve created this fundraiser for someone I hold close to my heart. A young woman with a beautiful spirit who’s doing her best to survive an incredibly hard season—and right now, she needs her community more than ever.

Let me paint the picture.

Imagine losing your mother far too young. Imagine moving to a new city with nothing but resilience in your backpack—hoping to build a life, finding comfort in your church family, friendships, and coworkers. You land a steady job as a manager, earning $600 a week, and to keep costs low, you rent a place nearly an hour away from your job and your people. To keep up with rising living costs, you take in a roommate. You budget. You stretch every dollar. You make it work—even if it’s just barely.

Now imagine your roommate suddenly walks out—no notice, no plan—leaving you with the full weight of rent, bills, and survival.

You push through. Ultimately, a red eviction notice is taped to your front door. You still push through. The leasing office doesn't accept payment arrangements. You still have other bills to maintain. You keep pushing. Then, the day you pay $700 on your car note, fill up your gas tank to make it to work the next day, and stop to grab groceries for the week, you come out of the store—your car is gone. Repossessed. Your belongings are still inside. The very thing you need to keep showing up to work and try for something better, taken away.

That’s where we are now. And that’s why I’m here—asking for your help.

I’ve walked alongside this friend. I’ve seen her grit, her quiet strength, her faith. I’ve seen her give when she didn’t have much to offer. It's a low moment, but she’s not giving up—YET she can’t do this alone.

We’ve exhausted all options—called every organization we know: United Way, Salvation Army, and more. We’ve hit wall after wall. So I’m turning to the two things I believe can still move mountains: FAITH & COMMUNITY.

I’m asking you—if you’re reading this—to be part of a miracle.

We need to raise $5,500 to:

Pay off the car balance so transportation is secured. This amounts to $2300 with balance and repo recovery fees.

Cover past-due rent and prevent eviction. $3200 will cover May's and take care of June's rent.

Get her through June so she can stabilize and regroup.

If 200 people gave just $25, we’d meet the goal.

If you’ve ever needed help and received it, or wished someone would show up when you were in a storm—this is your chance to be that someone.

Let’s be the church. Let’s be the village. Let’s show what love in action really looks like.

With deep gratitude,
Marisa
