Be the Change South Florida

Be the Change South Florida is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping feed multiple communities throughout South Florida using rescued, donated food items that are nearing their best by date. Our goal is to reduce food waste by taking donated items and transforming them into ready-to-eat meals that are readily available to those who do not have the means to cook many items that are donated.

During these hard times, communities have come together to support those in need, mostly through generous food donations, all of which are greatly appreciated. The mission of Be the Change South Florida is to make sure those donations are used to their fullest potential: to feed those in need, by using donated meat, produce, and pantry items that would otherwise go unused.

Be the Change South Florida has already produced over 1,000 complete meals from donated and low cost food items, which have stocked many South Florida community refrigerators from Liberty City down to Florida City several times per week. Our goal is to expand to be able to serve more South Florida communities and to be able to hire a few staff members that would help with distributing meals to the various community refrigerators. Our goal is to eventually raise funds which would be used to help us cover all of the costs associated with securing a rented space where we could house our pantry, freezers, and be able to cook more meals to be able to serve more communities, hire staff, and purchase the items that we need to keep our operation up and running, like disposable containers, catering pans, individually wrapped utensils, cups and water bottles.
