Be Responsible With Fireworks! Harley’s Story
As many pet owners understand, this time of
year is frightening for many pets- as well as
veterans suffering from the after- effects of war.
I received one of the worst phone calls I could have imagined last night:
Harley panicked due to the fireworks in the
neighborhood, and jumped out my
second story window while I was at work.
My neighbors left her crying in pain.
There is a trail of blood from my backyard to
the front steps of my neighbors door,
indicating her attempt for help.- My strife is
not with my neighbors, as I am thankful they
at least contacted my landlord to notify me
of the event.
My problem is that my best friend suffered
due to the negligence of the surrounding
homes setting off fireworks- disregarding
the effects it has on their neighbors.
Harley was immediately (when I found out)
rushed to Sage Pet Hospital to find
out the verdict .
Harley has a slight fracture in her front left
Ulna and has ruptured her ligaments in both
front legs.
I am thankful it isn't worse.
Harley is much more than a pet- like most
animal enthusiasts say.
My boyfriend rescued Harley for me 2 years
ago, to help with myCPTSD
(Complex Post Traumatic... you know)
I had previously been held captive in an RV in Texas, where nothing short of horrendous
happened. Unspeakable things. Things I
struggle to not blame myself for, as I went
willingly- naïvely more like.
Before Harley, I screamed in my sleep, could
not hold a job, feared public and more
than anything feared what worse was going
to happen in my life, as I could not have
thought up the things I went through in Texas.
- Harley gave me someone to love again; she
gave me a reason to go outside; she gave me
courage to smile at strangers... I sleep again.
I can hold a job- 2 at that! I do not know
where I’d be in recovery if it wasn’t for
Harley.
I need to save Harley, like she saved me.
Harley will need surgery in both legs, or she
will never walk again. I have received
estimates from $20,000.00 - $8,000.00
I work 2 jobs and have two children. This
would not be such a heavy burden if I had
not used all my savings on rent, food, elect-
ricity bills, etc. due to being laid- off because
of the pandemic.
My boyfriend is an owner/ operator for his
truckin company (C&G Wolf Transport) .
Because of the pandemic, he has been on the
road a lot more than usual, delivering supplies to keep us all going-
MOSTLY TOILET PAPER *insert eye roll*
- As a family we are doing the best that we
can, but are completely strapped. We have
spent $2,200 so far in vet bills, but we do
not have more to give.
I am sure the vet bills will exceed $6,000.00
but I am hopeful that we will be able to make
up the difference.
Any and ALL help is immensely appreciated.
I am hopeful that the good I’ve done for others
will come back to me and save Harley.
Please share her story! She needs you all
during this time.
Thank you.
