We at PSA Shivananda Vidiyalaya UK are excited to announce an inspiring initiative to transform lives through education, food and shelter!
As part of our ongoing efforts to uplift communities, we are hosting this year’s Fundraising Indoor Sports Competition (“Winter Sports Gala”) on Sunday, 16th February 2025.
This fun-filled event offers a chance for us all to come together as a community and create a lasting impact. Your support can make a world of difference! Here’s how you can get involved:

Our Mission
Your contributions will directly support the Shivananda Hostel Project, which aims to provide safe and comfortable hostel facilities for children from poverty-stricken families in rural and remote areas. These children attend Shivananda Vidiyalaya, Kallady Uppodai, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, where they receive residential education and the foundation to break free from the cycle of poverty.
Currently, we are supporting 40 deserving children in this programme. However, with rising costs and increasing demand, we need your help to sustain and expand this initiative.
Our Vision
We aspire to create a nurturing environment where children feel secure, valued and empowered to excel. In Sri Lanka, many children face challenges like hunger, lack of shelter and limited educational resources.
By addressing these basic needs, we enable them to thrive academically and personally. Our goal is to provide:
- Nutritious meals
- Safe and secure shelter
- Academic support and mentorship
Our Need
It costs approximately £10,000 per annum to sustain this programme. Your generous contributions, whether large or small, can make an incredible impact. With your support, we can maintain the high standards of the hostel and even expand to accommodate more children in the future.
The Importance of a Safe Environment
Providing food, shelter and education not only equips these children with tools for success but also shields them from harmful influences like drug abuse, alcohol and violence - issues that are increasingly prevalent in Sri Lanka.
