Hello, my name is E.Keen.
I am a freelance writer, translator and journalist.
First and foremost, I'd like to thank you for visiting my crowdfunding campaign. I appreciate your interest very much and I hope to be welcoming you as one of my contributors as well.
I know firsthand, how significant the impact of book reading and education is for a person's personal development. This is the main reason I find education to be one of the most important goods.
Education helps a person to discover valuable information regarding language, communication, science, nature, history, human kind and the creative field of arts. All combined nourish innovation, personal growth and happiness.
I feel very grateful to be in the position to participate in someone else's personal as well as educational growth.
I am also very passionate about supporting social justice,
sustainability, the preservation of natural resources, the environment and educating on cyber security. All of which can be further developed by sharing scientifically based information.
2. About the Project
Know, let me tell you more about my project.
I have written an educational book for children about nutrition's impact on the human body.
My intention is to explain to children how their body works and why healthy nutrition is important for them to become the best they can be.
Kids are not only curious but they are also very smart. I found it to be better to explain to them why they should do something the way adults want them to. Instead of just telling them what to do because we said
so. But sometimes adults don't have the time to sit down for an hour or two just to explain complicated processes to their children over and over again.
That's why having a good book for them to read every time they feel the need to check on certain information.
It is more likely, that your child is going without sweets and decides to take an apple for its snack instead, when it knows the deeper meaning of its choice.
Letting children understand the meaning behind their daily food choice, is my book's goal.
Helping to understand a complicated scientific but very natural process.
While combining it with a daily necessity, nutrition.
Nevertheless, the book is not about dieting or being skinny! I am very explicit about why dieting and skipping meals is an unhealthy direction to pursue.
3. Why I wrote the book and who it is for
You might probably think that there are already plenty of books covering this topic the same way I did.
To be honest, I thought so too!
That is why I was looking for a book like this to give to my nephew.
I asked in bookstores and searched on-line, coming to one result. There hasn't been written a book that was covering this subject the way I was looking for.
Yet, when I was looking for a book like that in the bookstores and on-line, there was none of that kind. It simply didn't exist. At least not yet.
There were cookbooks for children and there were the ones covering the question “How my Body Works”.
However, there was none like the one I was looking for. I even asked whether there was one I could order because they didn't have it in stock. Only there wasn't.
Believe me, I was very surprised about the lack of such a book. Most of all, I was disappointed. I was looking to give such a book to my cute little nephew.
He already has all the toys in this world, at least it feels like it.
Whenever you get him a toy, it's most likely it's one he already has, had or will get on the same day. Therefore I wanted to give him something different. Something with a deeper meaning, that he will benefit from.
My nephew is a eight year old boy who is a passionate athlete with high athletic goals in mind and a strong interest in reading books. But he is like every other child too. My sister takes good care of her children
by providing healthy food. Nevertheless, he is often not very fond of his fresh squeezed orange juice or his veggies. And sometimes he “forgets” to eat his packed lunch or sneaks and comes home hungry.
Having these factors in mind, I found this present to be perfect.
I knew that if he would understand his body's needs for healthy food, he would most likely take more care of it.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to realize my plan, then. Now, I am about to do it because I decided to write that book I was looking for by myself.
I knew I had the skills and I started working on it after I
couldn't stop thinking about it.

5. What the funding will be spend on
Children will always understand a subject better the best when they have well executed and detail oriented images that support the written material.
I am now at the last stage of the writing process, the editing of the text. To finish this step, I need to hire an editor.
Nevertheless, the primary expenses go into hiring a professional illustrator. He or she will be in charge of designing the book's cover as well as the interior of the book.
I am very passionate about education and social engagement. That's why I hope to be able to donate some copies of my book once it's finished as well.
If I exceed my campaign's goal of 5.700 EUR (which I need to break even), I will donate several copies of my book to children who are less fortunate.
In order to provide them an equal possibility to
education. How many copies will be donated, depends on the final amount collected.
I will then decide on the recipients (organization, school and/or children) in collaboration with you, my supporters.
Unfortunately I am not much of a painter. I'd love to show you a sketch or illustration of my vision. But I am afraid it would look embarrassingly pathetic.
Believe me, hiring a professional illustrator is money very well spend and a major benefit to your and your child's eyes once you read the book.
