Hi everyone,

my name is Deirdre McCarthy, I am a social worker and children’s author, my first book is called “it’s not fair: Bròd’s journey through their parents breakup. It supports children and their parents deeply and practically through the challenges and changes.

I’m currently working on my second book, which explores themes of death and grief, with a planned release in October.

I originally launched this project on Kickstarter, but I decided to step away due to ongoing bot activity and the amount of time it was taking away from actually writing and developing the book. I want to focus fully on the work itself rather than managing a campaign.

This book is already in progress and builds on my previous work, going deeper into understanding loss, processing grief, and reflecting on the meaning we make around death. It’s a subject that touches everyone at some point, and I want to approach it in a way that is honest, thoughtful, and accessible — with the hope that, even in difficult moments, people can still feel happy, healthy, safe and loved.
