Anisia is the beautiful daughter, of our colleague Nicolae, who was until recently a happy, healthy four-year-old, looking forward to starting pre-school and enjoying playing with friends.
In July 2022, Anisia was taken to A&E after having an unexpecting seizure and diagnosed with epilepsy. Unfortunately, in the last couple of months, the seizures become more severe and they happen more and more often, impacting her speech, motor skills, and behavior.
After further tests, Anisia was diagnosed with a rare condition by the Inherited Metabolic Disorders Team at the Birmingham Children's Hospital.
The diagnosis is Late Infantile Neuronal Ceroid lipofuscinosis Type 2 (CLN2).
As this disease it's very rare, it's lacking the medical research to support treatment and cure.
This news has been devastating to the family and those who know Anisia, and they are desperate to do everything they can to give her the best chance of beating this diagnosis and improving her quality of life. Anisia has been closely monitored by the Birmingham Children's hospital and she's constantly bringing happiness and joy to all who meet her.
We decided to set up this fundraising page, as Anisia's dad, Nicolae, is one of our colleagues working on the Calvert North site. We are hoping that this fundraiser will be able to assist with further treatment options and allow Nicolae to spend more time with the family and to be able to focus on Anisia's wellbeing.
Thank you so much.
