Hi. My name is Alice O’Keefe and I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). I began dialysis two years and nine months ago, and attend three days a week. Recently, I received notification from Ochsner Transplant in New Orleans that I have been approved to be on the kidney transplant list! I am overjoyed at the news!

I have been advised by the transplant team that after the transplant, I must stay in New Orleans for at least a month so that I can be near the hospital for numerous aftercare visits and blood work. They will be watching me closely for signs of rejection of the kidney.

The costs for housing for the month, aftercare medical appointments, testing, and medications, along with caretaker expenses, are going to be overwhelming. I am going to need help because my insurance will not cover the majority of these expenses.
