Let's keep THIS veteran from becoming homeless!

Hi, my name is Jean and I am asking for help for a deserving veteran I recently met named Tim.  This is a veteran who has run into a very hard time due to a service related injury.  Although his medical costs are covered by the VA, he has not been able to work since December 2020, and now finds himself without enough money to buy food and pay his rent and utilities this month and until December.  

 

Tim had a knee replacement at the VA, and was still having trouble with it, although the VA told him it was fine. He finally got a second opinion, and it turns out there was a bad infection all the way to the bone, so he had to have the knee replaced again!  His knee is now doing better, but his financial situation is getting dire due to not working for so many months, and due to the required rehab, it will be a few more months until he can work.  

 

We were able to grant Tim the maximum Healthcare Reimbursement Grant from Bridges For Heroes, for which he was SO grateful, but he has used all of his savings and has been selling off his belongings. He is a very proud and self sufficient individual, and has worked for many years as a master mechanic.  He told me he never thought he would be in this situation due to his profession, but here he is, very discouraged and in need of help until he can get back to work in January.  He did not ask for help and he does not know that I started this.

 

I have such a deep respect and gratitude for all those who raised their right hand and pledged to protect and defend us, and my heart breaks for the situation he finds himself in.... a situation that all of us hope never happens to us.   I just cannot ignore this need and feel  compelled to help him get through these next few months so that he does not become another homeless veteran.
