Help Syreeta Get to New York

Hey there!

My name is Syreeta (or, suhREEtah). I'm a multi-faceted creative from West Louisville, Kentucky, who's been making cool shit for over a decade. More specifically, I'm a recording artist, and I've seen considerable success in the last two years:

  • I recently performed to a crowd of 200 people at the flagship PURPLE store in SoHo, NYC.
  • I was selected for the Alissia Songwriting and Production Camp curated by Grammy-nominated producer Alissia Benveniste.
  • I'm also a product of BerkleeNYC's prestigious master's program.

To make a long story short, I'm at a stage in my career where I need some outside backing to progress to the next level, and that's where (I hope) you'll come in!

Though I’m still considered an early-career artist, I have an impressive body of work, a unique, definable sound that has attracted the attention of record labels. The one form of leverage I lack when dealing with major labels is fan momentum. To build that momentum, I've gotta establish myself in a music industry hub, perform consistently, and build rapport with a targeted audience.

I’ve spent the last ten years meticulously defining and refining my artistry as well as my audience. They're fervent supporters of artists like Doechii, Doja Cat, Little Simz, and Solange. These are multi-faceted creatives in their own right who value a high level of musicianship and theatricality in everything they produce.

Without a doubt, I am in this camp.

Just take one listen to my most recent release entitled, "thuhDEMO ." A project that was written, composed, and produced entirely on my own. It’s a project that not only showcases a unique and compelling sound (that got me a spot in the Alissia Camp), it also showcases a level of grit shared by bona fide superstars in the music industry.

I've built a formidable network of musicians, producers, and music business professionals in New York City and Kentucky, respectively, but have seen the largest spikes in fan momentum after performing live gigs in New York.

So, it makes sense to establish myself there.

As I'm sure you know, New York City isn't cheap. Just about everyone I know who's making their dreams happen in the city is relying on some kind of financial backing from an outside source.

So, I'm reaching out to y'all. My folks, the people who understand what this move would mean for the trajectory of my career and my life as a whole.

What's my plan?
PHASE I: Build a base of dedicated, on-the-ground fans in New York City by doing targeted open mics and opening for similar artists with larger bases.

PHASE II: Connect with music taste-makers and journalists in the city to expand my reach and online presence.

PHASE III: Start hosting my own events in collaboration with aligned spaces and brands that appeal to my base.

PHASE IV: Use the income generated from those events to fund a debut album.

PHASE V: Release said album by August 2027.

PHASE VI: Use all of this momentum as leverage to pitch to a larger label. (Or, discover that I don't need one.)

Why I'm a Great Investment
I've got nearly ten years of artist development under my belt, so I've already got a definable sound, look, and vision for my career. In two years' time, I see my career in the same sphere as Doechii or Little Simz.

Five years' time, closer to artists like Solange and Bjork--multi-faceted creative titans with connections to the curatorial art world.

I have TikTok content that's garnered 20k plus views. While these aren't recent posts, they do demonstrate an audience for my work exists, ready and willing to engage. See examples here:

Example 1 (May 2024)
Example 2 (May 2024)

*Update: Here's a recent post that's gone viral: Example 3 (August 2025)

As mentioned before, I'm an artist who writes, composes, and produces, so I can generate income providing these services for other artists. I also have friends in New York with fully-equipped recording studios, so access to those kinds of spaces, thankfully, isn't hard to come by.

What's In It For You?
If you contribute to this campaign with your legal name attached, you will be thanked in the liner notes of the upcoming album (for Vinyl and CD Release).

You'll also get a comp ticket to one of my shows -- your pick!

Or, maybe you just like me and wanna see me win. That may be enough of a benefit for you, and if so, how sweet!

Where Will These Funds Go?
  • Rent in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn for 6 Months: $7500 ($1250/month)
  • Moving Truck: $5300
  • Expenses Accrued from PURPLE SoHo Gig: $1800
  • One-Way Plane Ticket: $400

TOTAL GOAL (taking GoFundMe's Cut into account): $20,000
STARTING GOAL: $4,000

If We Don't Reach Our Total Goal
The funds we do we raise will be re-allocated to prioritize rent expense in New York City. I'll figure out miscellaneous expenses (like the moving truck and plane ticket) another way.

What Am I Gonna Do?
I’ll be working part-time to supplement my income throughout this process, and to help pay for all the other things artists need, like:

  • Styling, Hair, and Makeup
  • Photos, and other Marketing Materials

I'll also be paying my own utilities and apartment supplies.

What I'm asking you for is 6 months.

6 months to get started in New York.
6 months to have the best shot at reaching my fullest potential as a recording artist and producer.

Give me 6 months.
I got it from there.

As always, I 'preciate you.

Love,
REE
