My life changed so quickly at the age of 42 when I fell in the snow while walking my dog Isabella last December.

I had test after test after test, and finally my family doctor sent me to an Oncologist at the Cancer Center where I was diagnosed with terminal multiple myeloma cancer as well as a a broken back and spine. I was told that the fall I had when I was out walking brought on the myeloma.

The incredible pain I was in stopped me from working and doing what I love. My passion to help others is what has kept me going. And now the tables have turned and I'm the one who needs help!

The cancer journey began with my being admitted to hospital for the first of the very many times I'd be there throughout the year. I have been through 2 spine surgeries, 19 rounds of chemotherapy, and a stem cell transplant, as well as being hospitalized on several occasions for extreme pain and sickness . It's been a tough year so far.

As I write this the expenses are mounting and things are becoming more dire every day. I have out-of-town doctor appointments, and I can't always afford transportation to get there. I learned from my oncologist that I will have to take two forms of chemotherapy as a maintenance treatment for the rest of my life. I don't know how I am going to afford the medical costs, basic daily living expenses or pay my bills.

As I was no longer able to work full time, I went on EI (Employment Insurance), but in a few months I had gone through all of it, and things got very difficult. After my EI ran out a social worker from the Cancer Center helped me apply for ODSP and CPP. I literally had nothing and faced housing and food insecurity and was relying on community resources to get by.

My community journey began at the age of 18 when I learned that I have a passion for helping others. I fulfilled these passions during my summers working as a student in a day program for adults with developmental disabilities, to later in life working with young mothers and adults with severe mental illnesses. I am devastated as I am no longer able to spend my days doing what I love.

With this Go Fund Me I would welcome any help at all. No matter how big or small. I am looking for a support network to face this battle with me.

Thank you for taking the time to get this far and for reading my story.

I will post updates and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
