My friends with the Bohol Person with Disability Workers Association (BPDWA) could really use YOUR help!
The BPDWA is based out of Tagbilaran City in the province of Bohol in the Philippines. The 60 members of this association have various disabilities, with 35 of them being blind (see photo below). Under normal circumstances, the association arranges work opportunities for the associate members to earn a living. This work includes massage therapy and music busking at various public venues including the Panglao City Airport, seaport, and the bus station. In the wake of Covid-19, the ability for members to earn an income has been depleted, with many of the members on the verge of going hungry and wondering how they will be able to pay for their next meal, let alone pay their rent.
I am encouraging you to take a moment to watch a few of the videos, learn more about this association, and to donate if possible. 100% of donated proceeds will be going to the BPDWA in the Philippines. Unfortunately, since this is an overseas non-profit, a tax receipt will NOT be issued for your donation.
Also, in the spirit of transparency; I will personally be withdrawing the donations and ensuring the funds are directly remitted to to the BPDWA association in the Philippines. Unfortunately at this time Go Fund Me does not provide a way for funds to be donated directly to the Philippines. Hence the need to raise the funds in Canada and remit them overseas. I will of course be providing updates as this fundraiser progresses as to the time, dates, and amounts that are being remitted to the Philippines.
