Kidney Transplant
Thank you in advance for your support, help, and prayers. I’m reaching out for our sister Elva who’s in kidney failure and in the process of searching for a kidney donor.
Elva was diagnosed with diabetes at a very young age.
During her career, Elva has worked with military members, their families, veterans, survivors of the fallen, the homeless, and even counseled troubled youth. Elva has always been a kind, compassionate human who is now a single woman living alone. Despite being on several medications and diet changes, she had no other choice but to start hemodialysis. Each session takes 3 to 4 hours a day, 3 to 4 times a week. Elva realizes she will continue to face necessary challenges, and despite these challenges, she continues to stay positive. In her own words, she says, “This is the journey God has chosen for me.”
Last year alone, Elva was hospitalized 10 times, including a broken hip, broken femur, and fractured spine due to her severe osteoporosis. She also suffered a stroke as well.
This year brings many challenges as well. Elva was recently admitted to the hospital due to cardiac arrest. She was transferred to a rehab facility where she is currently receiving daily physical therapy treatments for her fractured spine and pelvis.
Elva is the youngest of nine children. Unfortunately, none of us or her own children are candidates for Elva as a potential donor.
This saddens me as Elva has always been a selfless, giving person.
Up until recently, Elva continued to work; however, she is currently without pay.
Our hope is to find a donor for our sister. Elva’s blood type is O positive, so preferably, we will need a type O healthy donor. If you’re not type O and interested in the donor process for Elva, there is a paired exchange program where she can still receive a kidney. Please email Elva for further details.
Her transplant team is ready to start the screening process for any potential matches who are interested in the paired exchange program, which means you don’t need to be a match.
