Be apart of Fiddlehead's Recovery and Reopening
Donation protected
Early Sunday morning, May 21st, a truck crashed through the wall of our restaurant.
I came back to Fort Plain 13 years ago after cooking in Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia with the intent of Opening a community space in the town I grew up in. We operated for 12 years as The Table at Fort Plain, highlighting chef driven seasonal meals. When Covid came, the market changed and we realized we had to change with it. Thus, Fiddlehead Craft Sandwich was born.
We were one week away from finishing up our first year when the crash occurred. Fiddlehead serves simpler food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although we saw ourselves as occupying the fast food space, we focused on real ingredients; Fresh house roast top round of beef, brined double fried chicken, slow cooked pork shoulder, and house made falafel and veggie options. Real Food, accessible to the community I love.
One of the most rewarding things for me as a chef has been developing a talented team to help me realize this vision. Now, that team is in jeopardy. Most of our workers don't have the savings to survive a month or more of down time with reduced or no paychecks. Similarly, Fiddlehead cannot survive without them if they are forced to seek other employment. Our team is more than coworkers. We're all friends, and look forward to seeing our neighbors in the restaurant throughout the week.
We chose $30,000 as our funding goal to protect the employees and kick-start the restaurant's recovery:
- $12,400 covers employee payroll for a month.
- $15,000 will allow us to immediately start repairs while we wait for insurance.
- $2,600 will replace damage small-ware and inventory (inventory wasn't covered) so we can get and running as soon as possible.
It's never easy to ask for help, but our team is integral to Fiddlehead's vision, and protecting them is my ultimate goal. Please, help us protect the team we rely on.
Anyone who is able to donate more than $50 will receive a special lapel pin with Fiddlehead's logo on it.
Everyone who donates at any level will be invited to the preopen when we're ready.
Thank you very much!
