Just 4 months after giving birth to her second daughter Amy received the devastating news that the mastitis she thought was from nursing her sweet baby girl was actually Triple Negative Stage 3 Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Time stood still that day as I listened to her phone call, my sweet Amy, she is like a daughter to me....I hung up the phone and sobbed.
My fellow 5th grade teacher and friend, Amy Miller, is only 30 years old. She is mother of sweet Felicity, age 3, and baby Sofie, age 7 months. She has been married for 6 years to Jairus, her highschool sweetheart. She is faced with the battle of her life and she is fighting it with grace and positivity. She is so incredibly brave.
For the past five years Amy has been teacher, role model, and caregiver to hundreds of students at Zephyr Elementary in the Whitehall Coplay School District. I had the pleasure of being Amy's mentor her first year of teaching. That is when I fell in love with her.
Never did Amy imagine as she depleted her bank of sick and personal days, to begin her beautiful family, that she would need to be absent at least once a week for 20 weeks for chemotherapy treatments, or that she would need to take 6 to 8 weeks off to have a mastectomy, or that she would need to undergo radiation treatments for many weeks after this.
The bottom line is that each day Amy misses of work, she does not get paid.
Other than doctors appointments and chemo treatments, Amy's car is in the school parking lot bright and early each day. She has worked through all of this. How her mental stamina overpowers her physical exhaustion is astounding to me
Please join me and "Be An Angel for Amy" ! Donate today so that she and her husband will not have to worry about the daily costs of life, like paying their bills and caring for their sweet daughters.
Amy's only focus right now should be beating this cancer, so that she may live life, be a mom, a wife, and a teacher! Please give to my sweet Amy!
