Be an ally on Terry Leftgoff's recovery journey

Hello everyone, this GoFundMe campaign is for Terry Leftgoff. Terry needs your support to help him on the long road to recovery from a horrific car accident. Contributions to this fundraiser will help support medical and rehabilitation expenses, and professional fees for our dear friend and colleague Terry Leftgoff.

On August 2nd, Terry was driving his car in Rancho Mirage, CA, a community near his home in Palm Springs. He was stopped at an intersection, waiting for the light to turn green when a pick-up truck traveling at high speed rammed the back of Terry's car, which then crashed headfirst into another object. Terry suffered life-threatening injuries.

Terry's first weeks in a Palm Springs hospital were spent in the intensive care unit (ICU), where he was unconscious and intubated. His injuries included fractured ribs, a broken back and bleeding in his brain. After moving from the ICU, Terry remained in the hospital care of trauma and neurological doctors until October 18. He made incremental progress, though his movements were heavily restricted. He remained on a feeding tube, working to regain his ability to speak, and his cognitive functions are slowly returning as his traumatic brain injury heals. The months ahead will be challenging, uncertain and expensive.

Members of Terry's family (Lori, Eric, Marcie, Nancy, Sue, Cary, Shelley & Nancy) along with his dear friend Steve Guttmann and I (we are friends from Terry's college days at UCSB) have joined together to support Terry. Spearheaded by Steve and Lori, this family & friends circle is currently evaluating inpatient rehabilitation facilities to determine where Terry will move when he is discharged from the hospital - his physical and neurological rehabilitation will take many months of hard work, and the outcome is uncertain at this time.

Terry's rehabilitation will take time, and it will also take money. Please contribute what you can toward our $60,000 goal. Terry needs these funds for his medical care, legal and other fees and expenses related to supporting him through this serious health crisis.
