To all who have been following Cooper’s story:
Cooper is a sweet, 4 month old boy who is the light of the world for his parents, brothers, and grandparents. Cooper has been thriving- loving to stare and smile at his oldest brother, receive sloppy kisses from his other older brother, and get endless snuggles from his mama and daddy.
A sudden medical scare sent Cooper to the hospital where they discovered a kidney tumor.
Cooper has since had his kidney fully removed due to the presence of the tumor.
After further testing, Cooper’s kidney tumor was diagnosed as a stage 3 Rhabdoid tumor which is a very aggressive tumor and extremely rare.
We know that Cooper is receiving the very best care at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Given how rare and aggressive this is, Cooper’s medical team is ready to begin treatments right away and they treat this type at any stage very aggressively.
With this type of tumor, it’s usually found in children under age 12 months, though sometimes up to 18 months.
When the surgical team removed Cooper’s kidney, the tumor was bleeding so the cancer cells have now been exposed throughout his little body.
Chemotherapy treatment preparation will begin on Tuesday 6/24 and he will receive his central line. He will begin chemotherapy Thursday 6/26. Cooper will require 10 cycles of chemotherapy, and will receive 3 different types of chemo along with radiation. This process is expected to last for the next 30 weeks, though can change depending on his levels.
Cooper will continue to undergo various testing.
Cooper is a strong fighter and so is his family; his mom, Samantha, his dad, Matt and his two older brothers - Sonny and Clayton along with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Sam is currently on a 4 week extension for FMLA as her FMLA had been fully exhausted from a 12 day stay in the NICU prior to maternity leave.
Matt's PTO has also been exhausted from the 12 day NICU stay. He is currently on FMLA, and is planning to work when he is able to between treatments and procedures.
The proceeds from this GoFundMe will support the family with their daily expenses, monthly bills and medical bills as they are navigating this news and ensuring they are able to be by Cooper’s side throughout this journey.
Thank you all in advance for any donations made to support this family.
We know Cooper is in great hands and he is surrounded by love and prayer. ♥️
