Help Dois and Lauri Get a Bowsprit Built for svAshika

Hola Ashika Friends and Family,

We need a bit of air in our sails to get us home. While in the Canary Islands about two years ago, we refit our 50+ year old bowsprit when we found dry rot. It was an important repair as the bowsprit's main job is to help keep the main mast standing and on the boat. In preparation for our journey across the Atlantic and then on to home in California we hired a professional to help.

The repairs held up extremely well until we found our anchor chain wound around a rock in El Salvador where the repairs we made in the Canaries probably saved us from losing the boat on a breaking reef.

But the spar was heavily damaged. We are moored in a Marina in a very rural part of Southern Mexico, right up against the Guatemalan border and our options are extremely limited. We were quoted a price that we could afford to replace it but when it came to ordering it, the price more than doubled. We are $1500 short.

With each donation, we would like to memorialize the heroes who help get this spar built by putting your names on the bowsprit. We need a little help with our last push towards home.
