Heidi’s friend is a single mother of four and a dedicated Drug and Alcohol Counselor serving the Portland community. For years, she has walked alongside individuals working to overcome addiction, offering steady guidance, dignity, and care. Even with limited personal support, she has remained a committed parent and a valued professional in a field that depends on compassion and resilience.
Two years ago, her life was upended by a serious auto accident. The injuries she sustained significantly affected her mobility and daily functioning, limiting her ability to maintain consistent work. Although she later underwent surgery intended to restore her physical stability, her recovery was not as successful as hoped. New medical complications have developed, setting her healing back and making it impossible for her to return to full employment. Throughout this prolonged recovery, she has attempted to access community resources, but the current demand has far exceeded the available support. Despite her best efforts, she has been repeatedly denied assistance due to overwhelming need in the region. As a result, her financial situation has become increasingly dire. She is now facing immediate threats to her housing, utilities, and transportation. These losses would create profound instability for her children and jeopardize her ability to continue medical treatment. With the holidays approaching, she is also unable to provide even a simple Christmas for her family, adding emotional weight to an already overwhelming situation.
Funds raised through this campaign will help keep this family of five safely housed in the home they have lived in for more than a decade. Your support will cover essential expenses such as rent, utilities, and transportation, and will allow her to provide her children with a holiday that reassures them they are cared for and secure. Most importantly, it will give this devoted mother the stability she needs to continue healing and eventually return to the vital work she has long provided to our community. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make an immediate and meaningful difference. Thank you for standing with this counselor and her children during a critical time in their lives.
