BE A HERO TO FAMILIES IN CENTRAL AMERICA
Donation protected
Aketzali Izamal Access to Clean Water Society is a small Canadian not for profit organization based in Prince George BC. We have been working with individuals and families living in isolated rural communities in Central America, to ensure access to sustainable clean water.
With your support, this GoFundMe campaign will be successful. That means delivering another 150 water filtration kits, training and follow-up with the communities most in need. Today, your generous support will directly impact the lives of 150 families, roughly 600 - 1050 people, for up to 7 years!

What does having access to clean water mean for these communities? It means children and youth can go to, and stay in school because they are no longer ill from serious water-borne illnesses, harmful parasites and crippling diseases. It means women (women are primarily the water seekers/harvesters in rural areas) have time to improve on their economic situations through education and/or engaging in business. It means improved oral health, and clean water to wash wounds and keep them free of infection. It means a stronger, healthier community - and a more equitable world.
With proper care and maintenance, the water filtration kits we use, can supply clean water to a family of 4-7 for up to 7 years!

Water is an essential building material of all life. Water that is free of parasites and diseases is key to sustaining health. In developing countries, despite the growing demand for access to fresh, clean water, the scarcity of quality and quantity of this resource is all too real. In the region where we conduct our work, 85% of the community members do not have access to clean potable water.
Our vision
“to bring drinkable water to vulnerable communities worldwide”.
Our Mission
“to combat the global WATER CRISIS by mobilizing resources through a network of skilled volunteers”.
Our Purpose
“to improve health outcomes, access to education, and to empower women and children living in rural communities through clean water management”.
Our vision, mission and purpose are in alignment with Goal 6 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, “ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”.

Since January 2023, Aketzali Izamal has provided support for 11 communities in the region bordering Guatemala, Mexico and Belize. There are 240 communities in total in this area. Meaning, there is still much work to be done!
Thanks to your support, the people who care deeply about advancing water security for their neighbors:
- we have supplied 325 filtration kits along with the care and maintenance training to support these filters.

- provided over $5000 (USD) in medical supplies, including an AED that went to the Health Unit in Melchor de Mencos and will assist outlying rural communities in the region.
- delivered dental supplies valued at over $3000 (USD) from Canada to communities and families in need in Guatemala and Belize .

- assisted “startup” small business ideas in the communities we work with to support economic growth, development and sustainability to build on the capacity granted through more sustainable water.

- assisted with the delivery of more than 600 vaccinations (polio, chicken pox, measle/mumps/rubella, among others) for children and teens who have not yet received vaccinations. *There are thousands still in need of these basic vaccinations.

Thank you for believing in this work. We can not do it without you.
