Hero Hound Rescue needs supporters more than ever to keep our doors open and keep saving dogs.

Over the last several months, we have said YES to beagles and hounds who desperately needed someone to give them a chance.
We pulled them from high-kill shelters. We took in the injured, the sick, the forgotten and the ones whose true medical needs weren't discovered until they were already safely in our care. And when HERO says YES, we don't give up when things get hard or expensive.

Our outstanding veterinary bills have climbed to more than $10,000, and we already know another $2,000+ will soon be needed just for heartworm treatment for three dogs.

LINCOLN — A BROKEN HIP THAT NEVER RECEIVED CARE
When we pulled Lincoln from Memphis Animal Services, his file gave us no indication that anything was seriously wrong. He was even listed as heartworm negative. He seemed like an easy YES.

Once Lincoln was safe, however, we noticed something wasn't right. His gait was abnormal, and it became obvious that this sweet boy was living with pain. Lincoln had suffered significant trauma sometime in his past. His hip had been badly injured, but he never received the medical care he needed. His bones healed incorrectly, leaving him with an injury that required major surgery.

Lincoln's surgery alone cost HERO nearly $2,500, essentially wiping out our medical fund.

We could have decided the expense was simply too much, but that's not what rescue means to us.

Today, seeing Lincoln happy and finally getting relief from the pain he had lived with for so long makes every single penny worth it. ❤️

GRETA — FIGHTING CANCER
Sweet Greta has been part of the HERO family for more than a year. Earlier this year, she developed mammary tumors that were found to be cancerous. Her first surgery to remove the growth cost approximately $1,200.
We hoped that would be the end of her cancer journey.
Unfortunately, it wasn't. The cancer returned aggressively, resulting in another urgent surgery, diagnostic testing and additional medical care.

Greta's journey toward being cancer-free isn't quite over yet, but this girl is a fighter. She's getting stronger with every passing day, and we're going to keep fighting right alongside her.

MAMA DI & HER 8 BABIES
Then came Mama Di, a young mama survived being burned, lived homeless and had already endured more than any dog should before she was even 18 months old.

When she finally came into HERO's care, she didn't come alone.
She brought 8 puppies with her.

That's nine mouths to feed, nine dogs needing veterinary care and eight growing babies who need everything.

We're constantly buying puppy food and supplies, and soon all eight babies will begin regular veterinary visits for vaccinations. We've already spent hundreds caring for this little family, and we know those expenses will quickly become thousands.

And while we're handling these major cases, the everyday work of rescue doesn't stop.

We still have dogs in foster care who need monthly heartworm prevention. We have senior and long-term foster hounds who rely on daily medications. We have routine veterinary appointments, vaccines, testing, food and supplies.

Whether it's $5, $10, $25, $50 or more, every donation helps us pay these veterinary bills and continue saying YES when another hound desperately needs a HERO.

Sharing this fundraiser costs nothing, but it could put our story in front of the person who can make an enormous difference.

We simply cannot continue this mission without you.

They need HERO. And right now, HERO needs YOU. ❤️
