I never imagined that after 15 years of teaching, I’d be the one asking my community for help—but here I am, hopeful and humbled.
Hello friends, family, and kind community members,
My name is Katherine Almonte, and I have been a proud Lee County teacher at Villas Elementary for over 15 years. Teaching isn’t just my career—it’s my calling. Every day, I pour my heart into helping young minds grow, learn, and believe in themselves. My students truly feel like an extension of my family.
On August 13, 2025, I underwent spinal surgery. I went into it with the hope and determination that I would be back in the classroom with my students within a month. But the reality is that this type of healing takes much longer than I anticipated. Each day is a step forward, but recovery has been slower and more painful than I ever imagined.
As a single mom to a middle schooler, the weight of this situation is heavy. Not only am I trying to heal for myself, but I’m also doing my best to stay strong for my child—who depends on me in every way. Being unable to work during this extended recovery has placed me in a difficult financial position, adding stress to an already emotional journey.
That’s why I’m reaching out with humility and hope. I’m asking for your support to help me manage just one more month away from work so I can heal fully and return to my students as the teacher they deserve. Your kindness would allow me the gift of recovery without the constant worry of financial strain.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean more than words can express. And if you’re unable to give, simply sharing my story would mean the world to me.
Thank you for lifting me up during this difficult season, for supporting my family, and for helping me return to the classroom where I belong—doing what I love most: teaching and shaping young lives.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Ms. Katherine Almonte
