Eric Hatfield Medical Needs

As many of you already know, my nephew Eric has been in the hospital since November 16, 2021 with Covid and multiple complications of it. He has had an extremely long and hard journey and is still facing a very long tough recovery. On November 16, he was admitted to the hospital for Covid with shortness of breath and low oxygen. On November 19, he developed a collapsed lung and was place on a ventilator and put in Covid ICU. Covid has also attacked multiple organs including his lungs, kidneys, gallbladder, stomach and intestines. He’s is currently battling 3 different strains of pneumonia, issues with his stomach, feeding tube, and kidney failure. He continues to be in the ICU and he faces a very long recovery with Rehab once he is able. He is truly in the battle for his life.

Eric and Valerie have spent most of their life serving the Lord in different capacities, including many years on the mission field in Asia. Currently, he is the Missions Director and Sunday School teacher at his local church in Virginia. He’s also involved with a organization that does disaster relief and medical missions to areas all over the world. Eric has spent his life loving and helping others and sacrificially giving of his time and energy serving others in need.

While he is in the hospital, the every day needs continue at home. Every day bills and expenses continue and now they have the addition of medical bills. He’s been in ICU almost 3 months now and facing a long recovery ahead and as you can imagine the medical bills will be enormous!! He and his family are going to need a lot of help financially.

Please pray for Eric’s continued recovery, for his wife Valerie and their daughters.

Update

3-30-22

We are still in the ICU. Eric is fighting yet another infection.  The doctors have not pinpointed where the infection is but they are treating with several broad spectrum antibiotics. 

His kidneys and lungs still need healing and are not functioning properly and he is still on the vent.  Also, he is having trouble with his feeding tube and not getting good nutrition. 

Please continue to pray for these needs and issues as well as financial needs for bills and medical bills.

4-7-22 update

We were transferred to an acute rehab facility on Monday in Washington DC.  It has been a whirl wind week.  The goal for this rehab is to try to ween him from the ventilator and start some more aggressive physical therapy.  Please pray for these things. 

DC is quite expensive and I will have to pay for my own hotel/housing for the time we are here which is an extra financial burden.  Please give and share and we covet your prayers!!
