BDE - Gila Sarousi's Final Wish

To our wonderful, caring Boston community Shalom,

As you all may have heard, our beloved friend, (who was like family to a lot of us), Gila Sarousi, passed away this last Thursday evening - Baruch Dayan Ha'Emet. As we all mourn and try to grasp this painful loss, the family is going to great lengths to fulfill Gila's last wish.

Her ONLY wish was to be buried in The Holy Land of Israel!!!

Although this may seem like an easy task, unfortunately, it's not. Being that Gila was not an Israeli resident, the costs associated with the transportation and funeral arrangements have exceeded $17,000 - (About 60,000 NIS). Thankfully, the family was able to come up with +/- $10,000 - The remaining expense poses a great financial burden on her close family members who have rushed to the task and already have come up with the funds needed for this to happen (the amount was funded mostly by loan).

Throughout her life, Gila tried to help and assist people in our community as much as she could. She has made a lot of ‘Chesed’ with so many of us, supporting through rough times, and happy times with our celebrations.

I know of several members of our community who have already expressed interest in helping the family with their expenses. This is a huge Mitzvah that we can all take part in.

We are trying to raise $7,000 to help with expenses that were needed, and if we can exceed that, even better. Please find it in your heart to help the family in these painful and stressful times.

Gila, we will all miss you dearly!!!

כפי שחלקכם וודאי שמעתם, חברתנו היקרה, (שהייתה כמו משפחה לרבים מאיתנו), גילה סרוסי, הלכה לעולמה בטרם עת ביום חמישי האחרון. בעת שכולנו אבלים ומנסים לעקל את האובדן, המשפחה כאן בארה"ב ובישראל עשו מאמצים רבים לזכות את גילה בבקשתה האחרונה והיחידה.

בקשתה היחידה הייתה, הבאתה למנוחת עולמים בישראל - ארץ הקודש.

על פניו, נשמע שמשימה זו קלה - לצערנו, לא כך המצב. העובדה שגילה לא הייתה תושבת ישראל מזה שנים רבות, העלויות הנלוות עם הטסתה לישראל והעלויות קבורה, עברו את סכום ה- $17,000 – יותר מ-60,000 ש"ח. המשפחה נשאה בהוצאות אלו עם כל הקושי שבדבר – ובאמת היה להם קשה. זה סכום לא מבוטל.

גילה הייתה אישה של חסדים, ואכן עזרה ותמכה בלא מעט מאיתנו בעיתות משבר, ושמחה איתנו בשמחות. חסרונה יורגש ללא ספק.

חלק מחברי הקהילה היקרה שלנו כבר הביעו רצון "לתת יד" ולעזור למשפחה האבלה. זו מצווה ענקית שכולנו יכולים לקחת חלק בה. אנחנו מנסים לגייס כ-$7,000 לעזור בעלויות הקבורה, ואם נעבור את סכום זה, מה טוב! בבקשה מצאו בליבכם לתת מה שאפשר לעזור בזמן הקשה הזה.
