By creating a photographic piece every day, I’m hoping to raise money to benefit the Body Dysmorphic Disorder Foundation (each piece will be uploaded each day to https://www.instagram.com/noahssentance/). I aim to explore unconventional approaches in my photographic work to challenge the ideals of beauty in art as the connection between appearance and value is something that BDD itself is concerned with. By employing blurred, fragmented, and distorted styles, with an emphasis on portraiture, in which subjects are not depicted with clarity or realism, I also want to explore imitating the tragic false self-image that those who suffer with BDD have of themselves.
