Hey friends. I am starting this page on behalf of my dad, David Witt. On July 3rd, he was diagnosed with a 6.5 cm (size of a peach) cancerous mass on his pancreas as well as several masses on his liver and one on his right kidney. He is experiencing an upper GI bleed and is unable to eat. This comes as a huge shock to our small family considering my dad has always been in excellent health. He loves to go camping, be outdoors, garden and take walks identifying all of the birds and clouds he can find. Dave is a retired firefighter of 40 years, serving 14 of them as a captain for the Forest Service before spending 26 years working his way up to Battalion Chief for the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station. He stepped into my life and directly into the role of a father when I was 10 years old. He taught me how to drive, showed me what bad sci-fi movies look like, and curated my love of seafood. He’s been like a dad to all of my friends growing up. When he retired, he shifted his focus to helping raise his beloved grandchildren, take full-time care of my chronically ill mom who has many health problems (lupus, fibromyalgia, severe throat problems and partial blindness) and volunteer to play Santa Claus yearly for local seniors and kids. He is an incredibly giving person who loves to make people smile and has the biggest heart. His entire life has been about what he can offer to others. This diagnosis has been a devastating blow to my family. As expenses begin to grow and his condition worsens daily, we are asking for anyone who has known and loved my amazing dad to please help us navigate this next step of our lives. To support a man who has helped so many. All proceeds go directly towards his medical bills, comfort care and support for my mom. Thank you so much for reading and please feel free to share ❤️
