Burning Down The House
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Melanie and this is my story. I am Always the one to donate to a GoFundMe even if it is only $5 to try and help, today I am the one asking for donations for my close friend. They call it an accident for a reason, and no one is ever Truly prepared for one. On Saturday April 9th there was a grease fire and a fire extinguisher that wouldn't work and a young man who didn't want to see his whole house in flames so his reaction was to try and get the fire/pan out of the house. In the heat of the moment (pardon my pun) he tripped, spilling the grease on himself and suffering severe burns on both forearms, left hand and fingers, right abdomen, and both calves. Caleb Sutphin was taken to the burn unit where he then waited days to see how bad the burns were before the painful scrubs could start. On Wednesday April 13th Caleb endured 5 hours of surgery, taking skin from his thighs to graft on to his arm and some fingers. Although the surgery went well, the family won't know until Monday if they worked/took. The Sutphin family will be spending Weeks in the hospital and once Caleb gets home, he will have doctor's appointments daily to change the dressings. This will be a long process for them all. Although FMLA will guarantee Katie will not loose her job, she will not be getting paid for her time off. Medical bills, everyday life bills, and no work for at least a month. I come to you today asking for you to help my dearest friend Katie and her family make it through this accident with our support. We have all been there, where it all just happens so fast that you keep replaying it in your mind over and over and think of all the ways you should have done it differently but it is an accident and no one's fault.
Donations will be used for medical bills and everyday life bills. From the bottom of my heart I truly appreciate you all for reading what I have shared and even if you can only donate $5, it all adds up to being helpful. This will be an on going process for their family, so even if you can't donate until next week or month, please know that you are appreciated and it was a Huge help.
