The BCWCA is a group of volunteer professional coaches, both active and retired.
We originated in 1972, around the time of the inception of Title IX.
Our Association is made up of male and female coaches, the common denominator being the championing of Interscholastic competition for our County's HIGH SCHOOL FEMALE STUDENT-ATHLETES.
~~~~~
The corresponding group supporting HIGH SCHOOL BOYS athletics is the
Bergen County Coaches Association, established many years earlier, in 1935!
The BCCA is also made up of both men and women and, though our two organizations are often confused, we regularly coordinate and work together to support, celebrate, and provide competitive opportunities for the athletes in Bergen County's public and non-public member high schools.
Both of our organizations provide County Tournaments and crown County Champions. We select All-County Players, Teams & Coaches of the Year.
Our association acknowledges excellence and milestone wins at 100, 200, and even in excess of 1000 wins with our Century Club Awards!
~~~~~
One of our proudest accomplishments is that we annually award a $500 SCHOLARSHIP to one female student-athlete from EACH of our 55 member schools!
~~~~~~
In this unprecedented 2020-21 pandemic, we have needed to cancel many of our Tournaments which resulted in a loss of valuable revenue streams from entry fees and ticket sales. Fortunately, we HAVE held Championships in Girls Wrestling, and Bowling, and we are planning a full schedule of upcoming Spring Tournaments in spite of the logistical obstacles which ALL of our member schools have all been facing.
~~~~~~
Our hope is that, with your help, we can continue offering these Class of 2021 Scholarships at the same $500 level!! Your donation could be as small as the $5 ticket fee you might have paid to attend an event, or any amount you choose to help in supporting our local girls and their athletic endeavors.
As always, we are striving for participation, so please know that ANY amount will be highly appreciated.
~~~~~~
We HOPE that your families remain safe and healthy and that we will soon return to normal.
At OUR end, we’ll continue encouraging and providing opportunities for our outstanding student-athletes!
Thank you for your consideration.
Very sincerely,
The Bergen County Women Coaches Association
