WE-CAN Tackle BC's Climate Emergency

Donation protected
This summer, people in BC felt the brunt of the climate emergency. Catastrophic wildfires raged in the BC interior, and the town of Lytton burned to the ground. Vancouver Island endured severe drought conditions, and a searing heat dome with record-breaking temperatures in the 40s contributed to 700 deaths and killed over a billion sea creatures.

People are waking up to the climate emergency, and demanding action. Over 350 BC climate action organizations and initiatives have formed in response to the crisis. During 2021 fifty volunteers worked hard to form and launch the West Coast Climate Action Network (WE-CAN) to serve, support, amplify and promote the climate action work of these organizations. Since our formation, over 200 BC-based organizations have joined our network. Help us help them become stronger and more effective.

We need to raise $25,000 to to support our work connecting with and promoting the climate action work of our member groups, to build on our engagement with Indigenous climate initiatives, and to broaden our engagement with social justice groups, green businesses, colleges, labour unions, and religious congregations.   Can you help? Your support will enable us to work together to fight this looming catastrophe.

WE-CAN is a registered non-profit, but to ensure our advocacy work can be as effective as possible, we are not a registered charity and donations are not eligible for a tax credit.   Thank-you for your support.
