Beatrice Carbin is a bright, dynamic, helpful, welcoming, benevolent, inspiring, bubbly, jovial, and brave young woman. The first thing you notice is her sparkling gaze, but as you become better acquainted with her, you can easily sense the joy and the expressions of energy that flows out from her inner being. You detect her generous soul, her voluntary spirit, her sensitive heart overflowing with love and compassion. You discover someone who is never short of ideas, someone excellent at building a whole team around a project to carry it to its full realization.
But an immensely dark shadow has been cast across this beautiful scenery. This bright painting has been blotched by the brush-stroke of illness. Though her mind is still vivacious, Beatrice’s body has been weakened and her energy has been sapped by a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lings) which almost took her life in mid-2016.
The road to recovery has been long and Beatrice has made significant progress--from the intensive care unit to total bed confinement, to walking with crutches, to finally being able to walk again. But she still has a long way to go and that costs quite a lot of money.
As her friend, I am coordinating this fund-raising drive to help pay for her medical care at Cevisa Hospital in Brazil.
